Brinks

Requires. Brinks Home Security on the customer's location.

This page covers working a customer through the Brinks (formerly Monitronics) integration — creating the eContract, putting the account online, and the day-to-day account actions available once the customer is linked.

Everything happens from the customer record: open the customer, go to the Connections tab, then Monitoring.

Before you start

Two things must be in place, or the actions below either won't appear or will stop you with an error.

Prerequisite Where it's set
A Brinks monitoring company on the customer Customer record → ConnectionsMonitoring
Your own Brinks eContract username and password Connected Accounts

The eContract credentials are per user, not per company. Each person who creates contracts saves their own. If yours are missing, the Create E-Contract window opens with an E-Contract Credentials Required message and a Go to Connected Accounts button instead of the form.

Heads up. The customer needs a scheduled installation appointment before you can create an eContract. Without one, the Installation Date field reads "Required - Schedule an appointment" and the contract can't be generated.

The Brinks panel

The buttons you see depend on whether the customer is already linked to a Brinks account.

Show — a dropdown of read-only lookups:

Item Available when
Event Histories The customer has a central station number or account number
Purchase Info The customer is linked to a Brinks account
Credit Request The customer is linked to a Brinks account

Actions — what you can do next:

Item Available when What it does
Create E-Contract No eContract is linked yet Opens the contract form covered below
Create Account Not yet linked Sends the account to Brinks to be created
Add Two-Way Device ID to Shell Not yet linked Attaches a two-way device to the account shell
Link Account Not yet linked Connects this customer to an account that already exists at Brinks
Modify Account Linked Reopens the account form to change site, system, zone, and contact details
Place Account On/Off Test Linked Puts the account on or off test for a chosen category and duration
Place Account Out of Service Linked Marks the account out of service
Pull Panel Linked Requests a panel pull
Click to Submit Linked Submits the account for common funding

Two red buttons appear when they apply: Unlink (when the customer is linked to a Brinks account) and Unlink E-Contract (when a contract is linked). Both ask you to confirm first.

Warning. Unlinking disconnects the customer record from Brinks in SecurityTrax. It does not delete anything on Brinks' side.

Creating an eContract

Choose ActionsCreate E-Contract. The window is split into cards. Equipment lines and emergency contacts are pulled from the customer record automatically — fix those on the customer before opening this window, not here.

Financing and Service Plan

Field Required? Type Notes
Financed No Select (No / Yes) Defaults to No.
Monthly Equipment Amount No Number, 2 decimals Only appears when Financed is Yes.
Equipment Split Rate Yes, when financed $ or % picker plus a number Only appears when Financed is Yes. Brinks requires it on a financed contract.
Extended Service Plan No Select (No / Yes) Defaults to No.
Extended Service Plan Monthly Amount No Number, 2 decimals Only appears when Extended Service Plan is Yes.

Heads up. Each amount is only sent to Brinks when its Yes/No field is set to Yes. If you enter an amount and then switch the field back to No, the figure stays visible on your screen but is not included in the contract.

Equipment Split Rate takes either a flat dollar figure or a percentage — pick $ or % next to the box and type the number. Brinks will not accept a financed contract without it, and their reply names no failed field when it's missing, so SecurityTrax blocks the submission with its own message instead. A percentage must be between 1 and 100.

Addendum Information

Field Required? Type Notes
Guard Addendum No Select (No / Yes) Defaults to No.
Premise Gate Code No Text
Personal Guarantee No Select (No / Yes) Defaults to No. Setting it to Yes reveals the six fields below.
PG Person Title No Text Only when Personal Guarantee is Yes.
PG Home Address 1 No Text Only when Personal Guarantee is Yes.
PG Home Address 2 No Text Only when Personal Guarantee is Yes.
PG Home City No Text Only when Personal Guarantee is Yes.
PG Home State No Select Only when Personal Guarantee is Yes.
PG Home Zip No Text Only when Personal Guarantee is Yes.

Fill in the guarantor details whenever you set Personal Guarantee to Yes — a contract that claims a personal guarantee with an empty guarantor block is likely to come back from Brinks.

Secondary Signer Information

Field Required? Type Notes
Signing Type Yes Select Defaults to None. Choosing anything else reveals the fields below.
First Name No Text Only when a signing type other than None is selected.
Last Name No Text Only when a signing type other than None is selected.
Email No Text Only when a signing type other than None is selected.
Phone No Text Only when a signing type other than None is selected.
Birth Date No Date Only when a signing type other than None is selected.
Tax ID Number No Text Only when a signing type other than None is selected.

Submitting

Submit the form to generate the contract. On success SecurityTrax sends you to Brinks' signing page. If Brinks rejects the request, the specific fields it complained about are listed at the top of the window — correct them and submit again.

Once a contract exists, Create E-Contract disappears from the Actions menu and Unlink E-Contract appears.

Brinks FAQ

The Create E-Contract window shows a credentials message instead of the form. Your user account has no Brinks eContract username and password saved. Click Go to Connected Accounts and add them, then reopen the window.

Installation Date says "Required - Schedule an appointment". The customer has no installation appointment. Schedule one on the customer's Appointments tab, then reopen the contract form.

I set Personal Guarantee to Yes but the extra fields didn't appear. Make sure the dropdown is actually set to Yes — the six guarantor fields are hidden while it reads No.

Purchase Info and Credit Request aren't in the Show menu. Those two only appear once the customer is linked to a Brinks account.

My equipment amounts look wrong on the contract. Equipment Subtotal and Total are calculated, not typed. Fix the equipment on the customer record, then reopen the contract form.
